Tooele County Jail Roster
The Tooele County Sheriff's Office links its inmate roster from the sheriff roster landing page to a separate roster terms screen. After accepting the terms, the search page opens with a simple name form. The online roster warns that it is informational, may not always be current, and is not the official inmate roster for legal documents or news reports. That warning is important. If the web roster conflicts with the sheriff's official roster, the sheriff's record controls.
Current county-jail custody should start with the roster because it is the public-facing lookup for the Tooele County Detention Center. It is most useful for people who were recently arrested, booked on a warrant, serving a local jail sentence, or held for another agency inside the county jail. It is less useful for a person who was released, transferred to state prison, moved to federal custody, held in immigration detention, or listed under a name spelling that does not match the search entry.
The sheriff roster terms page is available through the Tooele County Sheriff's Office inmate roster link. The screenshot below shows the official route into the roster terms screen before the search opens.
The terms screen matters because it separates quick public lookup from official record access under Utah public-records law.
Use Tooele County Roster
The roster is easier to use than many jail systems because it exposes only two name fields. A last name is the best starting point. Add a first name when the last name is common or when several entries appear. The tested roster also accepted a blank search during research, but the public-facing search should not rely on that behavior because the sheriff page does not publish it as a search method.
- Open the Tooele County roster terms screen and accept the terms if you agree to use the online roster as informational only.
- Enter the person's last name. Add the first name if the result set is too broad or the spelling is clear.
- Review the result list. The inspected table showed a detail icon plus Last, First, and Middle name columns.
- Open the detail icon to view the inmate profile modal. That modal is where booking date, charges, bonds, and physical descriptors appeared in the tested sample.
- If a new arrest does not appear, check the page timestamp and call the jail before assuming the person is not in custody.
- Use a GRAMA request when an official booking record, incident report, photo, or release record is needed.
For a broader discussion of booking-photo limits, see the Tooele County jail mugshots page.
Tooele County Search Fields
The roster search form captured in research did not show booking number, birth date, date range, housing unit, status, release history, charge filter, or facility dropdown fields. It displayed a short name form and a search button. That narrow form changes the best search strategy. Search by name first, then use the jail phone line or records request if the roster does not answer the question.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Options / Format Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text input | Unspecified | Placeholder is Last Name. It can be used alone. No wildcard instructions were posted. |
| First Name | Text input | Unspecified | Placeholder is First Name. Use it to narrow a common last name. |
| Search | Submit button | n/a | Runs the roster search after the terms screen has been accepted. |
The Tooele County roster search screen shows the two-field name form and result table after terms acceptance.
The limited field set is why phone verification and official records requests remain part of the Tooele County inmate records chain.
Tooele County Profile Fields
A tested Tooele County roster profile opened in a modal titled Inmate Details. It showed a name header, physical descriptors, booking date, charges, and bonds. It did not show date of birth, race, booking time, housing unit, arresting agency, court date, warrant number, release date, or booking number in the tested sample. The detail endpoint used an internal number, but the profile did not label it as a booking number.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name header | Full name in LAST, FIRST MIDDLE format. |
| Age and gender | Age in years and a one-letter gender value. DOB was not visible in the tested sample. |
| Hair, eyes, height, weight | Basic physical descriptors used to help confirm identity. |
| Booked | Booking date. The tested sample showed a date, not a time. |
| Charges | Charge or hold descriptions. A tested sample showed HOLD OTHER AGENCY. |
| Bonds | Bond section. The tested sample showed No records found. |
| Mugshot | No booking photo appeared in the tested public profile. |
| Housing and release status | Not visible in the tested sample. Call the jail for official custody status. |
Roster status: The online profile can confirm a useful lead, but it should not be treated as a certified jail record. Official Tooele County inmate records come from the sheriff's office.
Tooele County Jail Contact
The main jail and the sheriff's main office share the same public address. Use the jail numbers for custody questions, booking-status checks, records routing, visitation questions, and release timing. The Stansbury Park substation is a sheriff's office location, not a jail visit or inmate-records counter.

gramarequest@tooeleco.org
Fax: (435) 843-3330
Use a written request for official booking records, incident reports, photos, audio, or video.
Utah GRAMA requests should describe the record with enough detail for staff to find it. Include the inmate name, known booking date, case or citation number if known, arresting agency if known, and the type of record requested.
Request Tooele Inmate Records
When the online roster is not enough, the sheriff's GRAMA process is the official fallback. Utah Code sections on public-record inspection, written requests, and public-record classification govern access, but the sheriff may still redact or withhold records that are private, protected, controlled, juvenile, medical, safety-sensitive, or tied to an active investigation. The roster itself points users toward GRAMA for official records.
The Tooele County GRAMA web form includes a department dropdown that can route requests to the sheriff or another county office.
The sheriff PDF form is more targeted for jail records, while the county web form is useful when the requester is unsure which county department holds the record.
| Access Channel | Best Use | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Online roster | Fast current custody lead for Tooele County jail inmates. | Informational only and not always current. |
| Jail phone line | New bookings, release status, holds, and practical custody verification. | Staff may limit details by privacy, safety, or policy. |
| In person | Records or custody questions that require sheriff routing. | No general jail-records lobby hours were located, so call first. |
| Sheriff GRAMA request | Official booking records, incident reports, pictures, jail video, audio, or release paperwork. | Fees, response timing, redactions, and statutory limits can apply. |
| VINELink | Custody and case notification after registration. | Notification tool, not a certified record source. |
Tooele County Visitation Rules
Tooele County Detention Center uses iWebVisit for video visitation. On-site visits are video visits using lobby terminals, not contact visits. Availability depends on inmate housing, and the public roster does not show housing in the tested sample. Remote visits require advance scheduling, equipment, and account setup. All non-professional visits are monitored and recorded.
| Visit Type | Schedule / Timing | Registration | Rules and Costs |
|---|---|---|---|
| On-site video | Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, depending on housing. Call at 8:30 AM the same day. | Lobby registration with valid government-issued picture ID showing current photo and date of birth. | Uses lobby video terminals. Visitor must be over 18 for lobby registration, and minors need documented legal guardian. |
| Remote iWebVisit | Schedule at least one day ahead and up to three weeks ahead. No same-day remote visits. | Create an iWebVisit account with high-speed internet, webcam, and headset. | Standard remote visitors were listed at $12 for the first visit of each month and $10 for each other visit. |
| Professional visits | Remote same-day prohibition still applies. | Attorneys, clergy, and qualified professionals can request confidential status with credentials. | Qualified professional remote visits were listed at $25. |
The Tooele County visitation page explains iWebVisit registration, on-site scheduling, remote scheduling, conduct rules, and professional confidential status.
Visitors should confirm availability before travel because jail operations, housing, discipline, and facility needs can change access.
Tooele Inmate Contact Options
After locating someone in the Tooele County jail, family contact usually moves through phone, mail, commissary, deposits, visitation, or bail. Regular prisoner mail does not go to the jail street address. The jail rules route general prisoner mail to a Jonesboro, Arkansas processing address, where mail is scanned and uploaded to the inmate's tablet or mail app.
| Service | Tooele County Rule |
|---|---|
| General mail | Tooele County Detention Center, inmate's name and ID number, P.O. Box 16120, Jonesboro, AR 72401. |
| Phone calls | IC Solutions is the listed phone provider, effective March 11, 2026. |
| Commissary | Personal hygiene items cannot be brought in. Orders are weekly with twice-weekly delivery and a $40 order limit. |
| Deposits | Jail page lists cash, money order, cashier's check, and online deposits through Access Corrections. |
| Bail and fines | Cash bail can be paid at the jail. Cash-only warrants or fines require certified check or cash, with no personal checks. |
Release can happen by bail or fine payment, a bail bond company, a court release order, or time served. Tooele jail rules say release paperwork can take 2 to 8 hours after required paperwork is received and processed, so roster status may lag behind the practical release process.
Tooele Jail or Prison
Tooele County inmate records are not all found in one system. The county roster covers the sheriff-operated jail, which holds pretrial detainees, local sentenced inmates, people held on warrants, and some eligible state inmates placed through the Utah Department of Corrections Inmate Placement Program. A sentenced state prisoner may be under UDC even when housed in a county jail placement program. A federal or immigration case uses still another path.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Current Tooele County jail custody | Tooele County roster, jail phone line, sheriff GRAMA request. | Best for recent arrests, pretrial custody, local sentences, and local warrants. |
| Sentenced Utah state custody | Utah Department of Corrections Offender Search. | UDC says unsentenced county-jail detainees do not appear in the state offender search. |
| Federal sentenced custody | Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator. | BOP covers federal inmates from 1982 to present and may list release or non-BOP custody status. |
| Immigration detention | ICE Online Detainee Locator System. | Search by A-number and country, or name, country, and date of birth. No Tooele ICE detention center was found. |
| Federal pretrial custody | Holding facility, federal court, attorney, or U.S. Marshals District of Utah. | No public USMS inmate locator was found. |
The sheriff site also links Utah VINELink for custody and case notifications. No official Tooele County Sheriff or Tooele City Police mobile app with inmate roster, warrant, or mugshot functions was found in the research sweep.
Custody distinction: A person can leave the Tooele County roster because of release, state transfer, federal custody, immigration custody, or a record restriction. Use the correct agency before concluding the person is not held.
